Empowering Youth Through Creativity
Powered by CAN is a forward-thinking youth organization dedicated to supporting individuals under 35 in the Black Country and the wider West Midlands. They focus on enabling young people to lead the change they wish to see by providing services, opportunities, and experiences that contribute to every stage of their lives, in their own spaces and communities. The "Next Generation Now" project, an initiative by Powered by CAN, centers on amplifying youth voices across the Black Country. This particular segment of the project addressed mental health, encouraging participants to explore solutions through creative outlets.
From Concept to Creation: Designing for Mental Health Awareness
A group of young adults, aged 16 to 24, engaged in designing hoodies and t-shirts featuring thought-provoking questions on both the front and back. These designs aimed to spark conversations around mental health, fostering awareness and dialogue within the community.
At Goodstart Jones, we had the privilege of guiding these young creatives in bringing their designs to life. Our team provided hands-on workshops, teaching essential sewing skills and offering insights into product creation. Together, we transformed their innovative concepts into tangible products, empowering them to see their ideas materialize.
